What is Invisalign?

Many adults want to straighten their teeth but are concerned about their appearance at work. Teenagers may also be self-conscious about wearing traditional teeth straightening devices.

The answer is Invisalign.

How do aligners work?

The Invisalign system is a virtually invisible and hygienic orthodontic treatment that uses a series of custom-made removable aligners created to fit your mouth. The aligners are made of plastic and are worn over your teeth to gradually move them to the ideal position.

At Northern Beaches Dental Practice, our dentists are accredited providers of Invisalign. When you start treatment, they will take photos, X-rays, and impressions or a scan of your teeth to create a 3D treatment plan. You will then receive a series of aligners that you wear for a specific period while they gently move your teeth. You then continue to change to new aligners until your teeth reach the right position.

The benefits of Invisalign?

  • Aligners are virtually invisible, making them a discreet option.
  • Unlike traditional braces, aligners have no rough edges or wires, making them more comfortable to wear.
  • You can remove them to eat or clean your teeth, which makes it easier to maintain good oral health.
  • Appointments are faster and more comfortable.

Is Invisalign for me?

Aligners are good for correcting mild to moderately crowded or incorrectly spaced teeth, while traditional braces may still be needed for more complex cases.

Due to their tight fit, aligners are not usually recommended for young children.
